The risks associated with minimally invasive weight loss surgery are low compared to other procedures. However, complications can arise, especially in high-risk patients.
Risks can include:
- Staple line leaks
- Bleeding
- Stenosis/strictures
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Risk of death from this surgery is less than for an appendectomy. In general, the higher your body mass index (BMI), the higher your risk of complications.
